Richard ("Rich") Purseglove has been in the property field for over 12 years, specialising in HMOs and residential property investment. As the Director of Purseglove Property, he's all about making property work for both investors and tenants, and using sustainable investment strategies to help investors achieve long-term success.

Rich's background

Rich’s background is a bit different – he originally studied Aviation Technology and Pilot Studies, going on to become a commercial pilot with NetJets Europe. However, after the recession and a subsequent redundancy, he decided to change direction and pursue a career in property.

Starting with over £100,000 of debt from his pilot training, Rich learned that you don’t need vast sums of money to get started in property. Rather than following a traditional route, he gained knowledge through hands-on experience, trial and error, and by working alongside industry experts.

Now, he’s built trust not by chasing industry awards but by earning respect from local authorities, who often recommend Purseglove Property as a gold standard for property management, and HMO management in particular. His story is proof that with determination and the right approach, you can change your path and create lasting success.

The biggest challenge so far

Scaling up Purseglove Property with out losing the human element hasn’t been easy.

In the early days, Rich and his wife, Gemma, did everything themselves – managing properties, dealing with investors, and supporting tenants.
As the business grew, they introduced tech and automation to handle the admin side of things. This gave them more time to focus on building relationships and providing a great service.
